RESEARCH INTEREST
1. Neuronal communication, calcium homeostasis and regulatory mechanisms.
2. Neuronal calcium channels.
3. Synaptic transmission.
4. Neural plasticity.
Electrophysiological studies of ionic currents, action potentials and synaptic transmission in the peripheral nervous system cells (chromaffin cells) and central nervous system (hippocampal neurons). Research interests focus on: 1) the autocrine modulation of voltage-dependent calcium channels by neurotransmitters, and 2) cholinergic receptor pharmacology and their involvement in the modulation of synaptic transmission.
